Senior Competition
Monday & Wednesday nights at Upper Reserve
Registration is done online through MySideline, Touch Football Australia’s official registration platform. Your team manager will register the team and share a link with you to complete your individual registration and pay online. If you’re an individual without a team, email admin@wallsendtouch.com.au and we’ll find you one.
No. We accept individual registrations. Email admin@wallsendtouch.com.au and we’ll match you with a team that has a vacancy in the right grade.
We run two senior competitions per year — a Spring competition (approx. February to June) and an Autumn competition (approx. August to December). Senior competition runs on Monday nights (Mens and Mixed) and Wednesday nights (Mens, Womens, Mixed, Family/Friends and junior grades).
Each competition runs for approximately 12–14 rounds, followed by semi-finals and a grand final. The exact length depends on the number of teams and the start date of the competition.
Draw times are allocated randomly. Games generally start from 6:00pm, with the last game starting at either 7:20pm or 8:00pm depending on the number of teams. Your specific time will be available on MySideline once the draw is released, usually in the week leading up to Round 1.
Teams must have a minimum of 9 registered players and a maximum of 14. You need at least 6 players on the field at all times, with a minimum of 4 required to start a game.
To be eligible for the senior competition, a player must be turning 12 or older at any point during the competition year. The Family/Friends Mixed grade on Wednesday nights is a great option for families wanting to play together.
Not at all. We have lower grades specifically designed for beginners and social players. Touch football is one of the easiest sports to pick up — you’ll be right at home within a few games.
Yes. All players in a team must wear the same colour shirt with a number on the back. The design and style are up to you — just make sure the whole team matches and has numbers.
Junior Competition
Tuesday nights at Upper Reserve — August to December
The junior competition runs on Tuesday nights, usually starting on the last Tuesday of August. We don’t play during school holidays. The grand final is typically held in mid-December.
No. We accept individual registrations for juniors. Contact us and we’ll place your child in an appropriate team. If you want siblings or friends in the same team, email admin@wallsendtouch.com.au after registering and we’ll sort it out.
We offer boys and girls grades in: 7 & Under (Cubs), 9 & Under, 11 & Under, 13 & Under, and 15 & Under. A player can play in any division they are not older than — for example, a child turning 12 in the competition year can play 13 & Under or 15 & Under, but not 11 & Under.
Games generally start from 5:00pm, with the last game starting around 7:40pm. Exact times are in the MySideline draw, released in the week before Round 1.
For 11 & Under and older: minimum 9, maximum 14 registered players, with 6 on field and minimum 4 to start. For 9 & Under and Cubs: minimum 8, maximum 15 registered players, with 5 on field and minimum 4 to start.
Cubs is our program for players aged 3 to 6. It’s a modified 7-a-side game focused on fun, movement and learning the very basics of touch football in a safe, relaxed environment. It’s the perfect introduction to sport for young kids.
No. There are always teams in every grade that are brand new to the game. Wallsend Touch also runs skill sessions for new players before the competition starts.
Yes. Every registered junior player receives a playing singlet included in their registration cost — this must be worn during games. Players must also wear fully enclosed footwear (joggers or moulded football boots). Metal screw-in studs are not permitted.
Registration & Fees
How registration and payment works at Wallsend Touch
All registrations are done through MySideline. A team manager registers the team first, then shares a team link with players. Each player registers individually and pays their own fee online. Players must be registered before taking the field for Round 1.
Your fee covers the competition entry for that season, plus your annual Touch Football Australia and NSW Touch membership, which includes player insurance. If you’ve already paid the annual membership earlier in the year (July–June), you won’t pay it again regardless of how many competitions you play.
Refund requests are handled case by case. Contact us at admin@wallsendtouch.com.au as soon as possible if you need to withdraw from a competition.
The Family/Friends Mixed grade on Wednesday nights is registered as a team rather than per player, making it a more casual and affordable option. Kids from age 5 are welcome. Contact us for current team pricing and registration details.
Referees
Getting started as a referee at Wallsend Touch
Complete the Touch Football Australia online referee accreditation course, then contact our Director of Referees to get started. New referees are mentored by experienced officials through their first season. Email admin@wallsendtouch.com.au to express your interest.
You can start refereeing from age 12. Junior referees are paired with senior referees for their first games so they’re never on the field alone.
Yes. Referees are paid per game for both junior and senior competition nights. Contact us for current pay rates.
No. Many of our best referees have never played touch football competitively. If you understand the game and want to be involved, refereeing is a great way to do it.
All Abilities
Inclusive touch football for players of all abilities
The All Abilities program is an inclusive, adaptive touch football competition open to players of all physical and intellectual abilities. It runs alongside our regular competition calendar in a supportive, fun environment with dedicated coaches and volunteers.
Anyone. The program is genuinely open to everyone regardless of physical or intellectual ability, age or experience. There are no barriers to entry — just contact us and we’ll help you get started.
Yes. Wallsend Touch fields an All Abilities representative team that competes at NSW Touch state-level tournaments. Players who develop through the program can be considered for selection.
General
Other common questions about Wallsend Touch
All competitions are played at Upper Reserve, Lewis Street, Wallsend NSW 2287. We have 9 full-size fields, 18 junior fields, an air-conditioned clubhouse, canteen, changerooms and a sports bar on site.
Wet weather decisions are made on the night based on field conditions. Check our Wet Weather page and our Facebook page for updates. Games are only cancelled when conditions are unsafe — a bit of rain doesn’t stop play.
All fixtures and results are available on MySideline. Once the draw is released before Round 1, your game times will be available there.
