Wallsend Touch has a proud tradition of producing high-quality referees. Our club has produced state-graded and international referees who have gone on to officiate at Touch World Cups.

Referee pathway
Entry level. Complete the online course and referee park competition games at Wallsend.
Progress through your accreditation and begin representing Wallsend at regional and city v country tournaments.
State-graded referees officiate at NSW Touch state championships and representative tournaments across the state.
The highest level. Wallsend has produced referees who have attended Touch World Cups and officiated on the national stage.
Ongoing referee coaching
At Wallsend Touch, referee development doesn’t stop at accreditation. Our referees receive ongoing coaching and support throughout the season — from our Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night park competitions right through to representative tournaments.
Whether you’re just starting out or working toward a higher grade, our experienced referee coaches are on the field every week to help you improve, build confidence and reach your potential.
How to get started
Getting started as a referee is straightforward. Complete the Touch Football Australia online referee accreditation course, then contact our Director of Referees to get on the field.
New referees are mentored by experienced officials and supported through their first season. You can start refereeing as young as 12 years of age — junior referees are paired with senior referees for their first games.
