Inside Wallsend's All Abilities program: touch football for everyone, no exceptions

At Wallsend Touch Football Association, we believe sport is for everyone. Not just the fast, the fit, or the experienced — everyone. That belief is exactly what drives our All Abilities Touch Football Program, and it's something we're incredibly proud of.

What is the All Abilities program?

Our All Abilities program is an inclusive, adaptive touch football competition designed for individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. It runs alongside our senior and junior competitions at Upper Reserve, Wallsend, giving participants the full WTA experience — the same fields, the same community, the same Wolves spirit.

Open to all ability levels, the program focuses on fundamental touch football skills in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. There's no pressure, no judgment — just good footy and good people.

What does participation look like?

Players develop core skills like passing, running, and positioning through modified game formats that suit every participant. Our coaches and volunteers are trained to adapt drills and game conditions to ensure everyone can contribute meaningfully and enjoy their experience on the field.

Beyond the skills, the social connections formed in the All Abilities program are something truly special. Participants build friendships, develop confidence, and become a valued part of the Wallsend Touch community — because that's exactly what they are.

A season to be proud of

This past season, our All Abilities team competed at the NSW State Cup — and performed brilliantly. Watching our players represent the Wolves on the state stage was one of the highlights of our year, and a moment that perfectly captured what this program is all about: giving people the opportunity to compete, grow, and shine.
